Eat!
I remember when I was a child; My mother got up before at dawn to prepare the food that my father would take to his work. He worked at an oil company on Lake Maracaibo as a supervisor at a flow station. I remember those moments as if it were yesterday; A smell that permeated the entire house from 5 am, made me get up for breakfast. I went to the kitchen and sat directly at the table where she prepared everything, without saying a word.
Two arepas with butter, ham, and cheese on a plate before my eyes with a large cup of chocolate; My mom contemplated the happiness I felt while slowly eating my breakfast.
Do you know? All my life I have eaten slowly; I like to appreciate the flavor that each ingredient delivers and the explosion of flavors that it makes in the mouth with each bite. Maybe I would have been a good chef if I had dedicated myself to cooking as a profession.
All my memories today are gathered while I edit this publication; Each and every one of them gather in my mind to remind me that, although we can all go through moments of scarcity, a good meal can make the difference between the despair of the roar of a hungry stomach and the joy of seeing, like someone who does not has nothing, she can fill her belly and see a big smile in gratitude for the deference that you can have had with him.
I imagine every morning that I can have breakfast with my mother, by her side, while I have lived in another country for more than two years; I know very well that when I return, I will be able to do this, and not only with her, but with the whole family that looks forward to that great day.
