MyPictureDay - Wednesday Walk With a New Direction As the Snow Recedes...

With the warm weather the snow has finally started melting in the bush so I decided to check things out back behind our house. I didn't go too far for there was still some snow but come summer I'll be taking a lot more walks in the back forested area.

Our house is situated in a pine meadow - have a look...

I decided to put a creative touch to that scene with the special feature on my camera and I was happy with the results.

And focusing in where a patch of snow was

There was some interesting light with the sun lower down in the sky and it highlighted the golden willow

Another place where the sun shone through highlighting a spruce, was in the black spruce forest

Here is that area with Bruno laying beside it looking handsome!

In the areas that were open JJ came to join us. He was perfectly camouflaged in the dry grasses with some shadowing

With the snow gone it opened up all new smells and JJ (Bruno too) loved sniffing around

Unburied too were some fallen trees with interesting fungi growth on them

You can see the squirrels have been busy over the winter with the amount of pine cone scraps left by the tree. I zoomed into the stump and there was a beautiful conch on it

Another interesting one had brown fungi growing all down the side of it

And looking upward I found a poplar tree which had shell shaped fungi on it

The woodpeckers had been busy and this tree had three different holes drilled into it. In one of the holes there was a gem (a sap gem!)

Bruno had found a big stick that he came leaping out of the bush with (he love's his sticks and has them scattered all over the place)

Once we were out onto the open road with the dried grasses at the edge Bruno decided it was time for a dirt bath - he loves to roll.

Meanwhile JJ had been busy checking out a barrel and I caught him coming out all wide eyed

We're all enjoying these wonderful spring days after six months of winter!
