My entry to the Trick or Treat Halloween contest by . Check here for more info.
Halloween is one of my favorite celebrations. My birthday is November 1 the next day after Halloween and I was teased about not being brought by a stork but by the witches.
It was a rare blue full Hunter’s moon then as will be this Halloween, Oct 31, 2020. A blue moon means this is the second full moon in the same month. It will make for an extra spooky Halloween night where anything could happen.🎃
The ancient Celtics believed Halloween or All Hallows’ Eve the only day in the year where the barriers between the physical and the spiritual world can be dissolved.
Our current Halloween is derived from their pagan festival called Samhain. Now known as All Souls Day in some religions.
The guardian protecting the portal to the spiritual world steps aside on All Hallows’ Eve and allows for many spirits to come through into our physical world and visit their previous loved ones or play a prank on others. Even animals who passed on may make an appearance this one evening.
All the roaming spirits must return by midnight October 31 but in the meantime, be afraid, be very afraid. some spirits are naughty and like to cause terror.👺
A wood fire I photographed and edited to show different spirits coming through.
My custom is on Halloween (All Hallows’ Eve), I lit a candle and leave it burning in the window in honor of the dead and welcome any deceased loved one who would like to visit.
In ancient times it was a custom to leave lit candles along driveways and in windows in hopes a deceased loved one would visit from the invisible world.
If you have a spooky unknown visitor on Halloween be careful, be very careful as the spirit may not be friendly.....
The magic word abracadabra will protect you and must be uttered three times as you draw a protective circle around yourself and throw salt over your shoulder.🙃 🎃👻
To believe or not to believe....
