Yes, welcome to a special Sunday edition of Market Friday! I was given special dispensation by our #marketfriday hostess, , herself! I just need to get it in by midnight or I turn into a pumpkin or something like that.
Yesterday I went to an outdoor Christmas market in Kennett Square. It wasn't exactly a German type market, but it was definitely outdoors, so they did not lie about that.
The odd thing is, I wasn't particularly in a mood to shop; I just wanted to get out and about, and this looked like it was going to be a nice place to spend a bit of time.
I was greeted at the entrance by this awesome truck, decorated for the season and obviously feeling festive. What a happy looking truck!
Stepping inside I discovered that there were, indeed, vendors selling various goods. I did not take too many pictures of the items for sale, but these gives a generally good impression of what the shopping areas looked like.
People were bundled up to keep warm. The primary reason for that is that it was a little cold out. Not "freeze your fingers off" type cold, but cold nonetheless. To help alleviate the cold there were these fire pits placed throughout the shopping grounds.
There was also a snow making machine on the grounds. I suppose, for me, this was the first snow of the year. Look at this woman wondering, "wtf is this white stuff?" She looks so confused by it. I thought it was a really nice touch, though, to give an aura of winter.
There were a lot of people posing in the snow and taking pictures of it. I didn't have anyone with me to pose, so I just took a picture of some furniture instead.
So while some stood by the fire's to keep warm, I found a place that was more suited to my particular lifestyle: the bar!
There was a place selling hot coffee, which did smell good, but they also had stoud. It was a conundrum! Luckily I was able to find a solution that combined my two favourite drinks: coffee stout! A coffee stout later and the chill was suppressed enough to let me enjoy some live music.
All in all, a nice way to spend a few hours on a Saturday.
