Erosion and flooding is what affect the growth and survival of crops. During raining season, flowing water or river usually leaves it's flowing road to different locations in search of road. When river is over filled with drop of rains, then people's land and farm suffers it most. The flooding that will happen will have to be accompanied with erosion. By the time flooding create erosion, flooding will continue to make use of the erosion anytime it rain. If the flooding is not stopped by creating drainage, planting of trees like bamboo and others, the erosion will be expanding and causing more trouble to farmlands.
This year, I saw what flooding and erosion can cause to farmlands, it was not easy for me after I planted some vegetables like waterleaf, watermelon, greenleaf, eggplant, garden egg, and more other good vegetables and flooding took many away. Worst of it all is that when rain was about to rain heavily between June, July, and September, it didn't show up as usual but ceased between the months it's supposed to rain heavily. It made me and many other farmers to be complaining bitterly because any year it doesn't rain and sun normal, crops don't usually grow well.
I didn't know that the whole heavy rain that's supposed to rain between June to September will be shifted by climate to October and November. Normally, the best time to go into gardening of crops is supposed to be in harmattan or dry season. So This September, I was thinking that rain has stopped and I entered into garden.
After I planted many vegetables, I was praying for a little drop of rain but that didn't happen as I expected. I kept pouring water to the garden till the germination took effect. As my garden began to grow very well, I became very happy not knowing that rain is coming with trouble. One faithful night October ending, it rained for days that everyone began to complain. After the raining, I went to my garden and what I saw was not good to me as flooding took away some portion of my farmland together with crops. The damage caused by flooding in my garden is very much and I have come to stop it before next year comes.
My plan to stop erosion and flooding before next year garden
The land I usually use for gardening of vegetables every year is surrounded by flowing river. Most times, the river get over filled and it'll enter my garden to destroy crops. As I saw it heavily this year, I have gathered ways to use and stop the flowing river flooding not to enter my garden by next year.
With the flowing river surrounding my garden, the only measure ways to use and prevent flooding from entering my garden by next year is by planting of trees or bamboo. Among tree and bamboo, I went ahead to prefer planting bamboo.
Bamboo is more preferably in preventing flooding and erosion because the tree can survive many soil and environment. Bamboo can stay very long before it can die if at all it does. I have not seen where a germinated bamboo dies except through burning and uprooting.
Bamboo is highly recommended to stop flooding and erosion from entering a garden or farmland because the tree has a very strong root that can grow around the planted areas. Bamboo roots is very long and strong that it doesn't allow flooding and erosion.
How to plant a bamboo
Bamboo is not difficult to plant, meaning that the tree is what can be cut and planted. I went to a nearby land where bamboo is known, I cut some tree of the bamboo and return back to my garden.
The areas where flooding and erosion was caused by rain, I took the bamboo tree there, open the soil and planted the bamboo tree.
Bamboo tree doesn't need much water to survive since the planted areas is within the bank of a river.

La erosión y las inundaciones afectan al crecimiento y la supervivencia de los cultivos. Durante la época de lluvias, el agua que fluye o el río suele abandonar su cauce para dirigirse a otros lugares en busca de una carretera. Cuando el río se desborda con las gotas de lluvia, la tierra y las granjas de la gente son las que más lo sufren. Las inundaciones que se producen van acompañadas de erosión. En el momento en que la inundación cree erosión, la inundación seguirá aprovechando la erosión cada vez que llueva. Si la inundación no se detiene mediante la creación de drenaje, la plantación de árboles como el bambú y otros, la erosión se ampliará y causará más problemas a las tierras de cultivo.
Este año, he visto lo que las inundaciones y la erosión pueden causar a las tierras de cultivo, no fue fácil para mí después de plantar algunas verduras como la hoja de agua, sandía, hoja verde, berenjena, huevo de jardín, y más otras buenas verduras y las inundaciones se llevaron muchas. Lo peor de todo es que cuando la lluvia estaba a punto de caer con fuerza entre junio, julio y septiembre, no apareció como de costumbre, sino que cesó entre los meses en los que se supone que debe llover con fuerza. Eso hizo que yo y muchos otros agricultores nos quejáramos amargamente porque cualquier año que no llueva y haga sol normal, las cosechas no suelen crecer bien.
No sabía que toda la lluvia fuerte que se supone que va a llover entre junio y septiembre se va a trasladar por el clima a octubre y noviembre. Normalmente, el mejor momento para dedicarse a la jardinería de cultivos se supone que es en harmattan o estación seca. Así que en septiembre pensé que ya no llovería y me puse a cultivar.

Después de plantar muchas verduras, recé para que lloviera un poco, pero no fue como esperaba. Seguí echando agua al huerto hasta que la germinación surtió efecto. Como mi huerto empezó a crecer muy bien, me puse muy contento sin saber que la lluvia viene con problemas. Una fiel noche de finales de octubre, llovio durante dias que todo el mundo empezo a quejarse. Despues de la lluvia, fui a mi jardin y lo que vi no fue bueno para mi ya que la inundacion se llevo parte de mi tierra de cultivo junto con las cosechas. El daño causado por las inundaciones en mi huerto es mucho y he venido a pararlo antes de que llegue el año que viene.

El terreno que suelo utilizar para cultivar hortalizas todos los años está rodeado por un río caudaloso. La mayoría de las veces, el río se desborda y entra en mi huerto para destruir los cultivos. Como he visto que este año ha sido muy duro, he reunido maneras de utilizar y detener la crecida del río para que no entre en mi huerto el año que viene.
Con la corriente del río que rodea mi jardín, la única forma de evitar que las inundaciones entren en mi jardín el año que viene es plantar árboles o bambú. Entre los árboles y el bambú, prefiero plantar bambú.
El bambú es más preferible para prevenir las inundaciones y la erosión porque el árbol puede sobrevivir en muchos suelos y entornos. El bambú puede permanecer mucho tiempo antes de morir, si es que lo hace. No he visto que un bambú germinado muera salvo por quemaduras y desarraigo.
El bambú es muy recomendable para detener las inundaciones y la erosión de entrar en un jardín o tierras de cultivo porque el árbol tiene una raíz muy fuerte que puede crecer alrededor de las áreas plantadas. Las raíces del bambú son muy largas y fuertes, por lo que no permiten las inundaciones ni la erosión.
Cómo plantar un bambú
El bambú no es difícil de plantar, es decir, el árbol es lo que se puede cortar y plantar. Fui a una tierra cercana donde se conoce el bambú, corté algunos árboles del bambú y volver de nuevo a mi jardín.
Las zonas donde las inundaciones y la erosión fue causada por la lluvia, tomé el árbol de bambú allí, abrir el suelo y plantó el árbol de bambú.
El bambú no necesita mucha agua para sobrevivir, ya que las zonas plantadas están en la orilla de un río.
