For the planting of Ginger I didn't know it can be planted and survive near the house in the South East of Nigeria not until the time I have it a trial. I didn't also know that ginger takes a whole lot of months to grow before the root for eating can be harvested. What I noticed that makes it so long before harvesting is that after planting ginger it'll germinate and then allowed to grow with leaves. So the ginger leaf must take time to grow big and be allowed to dry. This means that the ginger leaf and stem will dry completely before harvesting so that the main root for eating will be mature.
To plant ginger it's best done with already germinated little shootout which will be uprooted from the original parents and then be transplanted within or to another farm location. Immediately a ginger is planted it need water supply to maintain it nature of growth from the soil. This is more needed since transplanting is involved. The farmer will water the ginger in the morning and evening. Finger doesn't necessarily need fertilizer to do well because the plant is very strong to grow in any type of soil if it can survive in South East.
