To plant African pumpkin is very good but another thing is to protect it from any harmful animal. African pumpkin leave is very soft and as such will easily be harm by any object. The most challenging period for growing African pumpkin is the germinating period where squirrel and foul may uproot them and another area is allowing the leaves to grow. If any harmful objects before the fresh leave of African pumpkin, it'll be difficult for the leave and stem to recover again.
This is why I have tried to use a cage to protect my African pumpkin garden and it's the only measure way to prevent both human and animal from having access into the garden. My greatest fear is that not me minding the efforts I put in place using a caged bamboo I made in order the secure the garden from human and animal not to have access to it, goat still broke into the garden.
Days ago I went to pour water in the morning for my African pumpkin and saw that goat broke into the garden. My greatest surprise was how possible did the goat got into my garde. The level I used bamboo to do cage for the garden were too tight and how goat entered the garden is still surprising.
Okay let me not only keep complaining about how goat broke into my garden but focus on the damages it has cost my African pumpkin. Had it been that it was a follow human that entered into my garden and harvested some African pumpkin I wouldn't be complaining bitterly the way I'm right now. But my greatest fear is that I don't know if goat mouth or the saliva from the tongue is poisonous because any African pumpkin eating by goat, not all usually survives it and even when any want to survive, it may take a very long time to do that.
Or maybe the teeth goat used for the African pumpkin harvesting is poisonous. I usually warn many African pumpkin gardeners not to allow goat eat their leaves or that of the stem because is dangerous and may make the leave to die or struggle for survival.
The only way to avoid goat entrance into our garden is by making sure we use any form of cage the cover the whole areas and when we cover it, it's still very important we may apply goat grinded dump on the African pumpkin leaves because it can also prevent goat from eating any African pumpkin leave and stem.
