Okra is a very good flowering plant. It produces fruit with a lot of seeds inside. Okra fruit together with the seeds are used to cook soup, stew, and sometimes source to eat with yam. Okra fruit and it's seeds are mainly good to cook soup and stew when fresh. We're already in the planting season of the year which Okra is among the best plant to plant during this season of rain but we have some challenges after planting our Okra which happens to be pest attack.
Pest attacks to Okra usually happens during the young stage of the plant growth so it'll easy for the pests to attack by eating the leaves and sometimes the stems of the Okra. Most pests usually happens to Okra farm due to the farm land environment. Some Okra farm land are usually attacked to pest to cause diseases due the type of plants around the farm land. Most plants are the cause why Okra farm are attacked because most of the pests are already living inside the plants.
Most pests attack Okra leaves, fruit, and stems in different ways but the most common ways is when the fly, crawl on the Okra leaf, stem, and fruit. Most of the pest will have to start living inside the Okra leaf, stem, and even seeds. As they're been allowed without a chase or application of insecticide they'll keep living to feed on the Okra stem, leaf, and fruit to the extent some of the pest can even live inside the Okra fruit. This is why some Okra seeds will no longer be good for planting because pest has eating and cause diseases in them.
They're a lot of pest like white flies, caterpillar, insects, corn earworm, beetles, and even mites that usually attack Okra and to stop them out farm must be properly clean. It's good we clear near bushes so that no pest living in them we have the opportunity to come into our Okra farm.
Most pests usually eat Okra leaves gradually and when looking at such Okra leaves it usually look as a map drawn on them.
The most common way out side clearing of near bushes, and early removals of pest is the use of ashes. Ashes is very good to chase pest away from our Okra farm land. To make use of ashes it must be allowed to be cold before use. It's good to add water to the ashes before use on our Okra farm land. The water will help make the ashes to gum on the Okra leaf, stem, and even on the fruit.
