Hello Homesteaders. I just that your week is going fine. Today, I decided to share with you some experiences I gathered from my rice farm but before I will proceed, I will like to make you understand that rice is a popular African food that is mostly loved by both young and adults. Rice is mostly used for special occasions which are mainly prepared to be eaten with stew so that visitors of the occasion can eat to their satisfaction. I could remember those days with my grandmother when we used to prepare rice and stew every Sunday because my grandmother regards Sunday as a special day.
I will also like to inform you that rice is one of the fastest foods to digest in the body and is a kind of food to eat whenever you don’t feel like eating heavy food. Well, I don’t regard rice to be a heavy food not minding that it contains high carbohydrate that generates energy for the body.
To be honest with you, rice farming seems to be partially difficult because of its numerous stages of planting, weeding, harvesting, and getting it prepared to give you the main rice from the shell but you must understand that rice farming is a very profitable business because it has a very large demand, especially in Africa where it’s used for event entertainment avenue to visitors. When I started my rice farming this year, many were discouraging me not to venture into it because of the tedious procedures that are attached to it but today, my rice is gradually yielding income and I’m becoming happy even though the rice has not started producing seeds. Well, thanks for initiating most of these ideas because today, I’m a living witness to what farming can contribute for a living.
Do you know that early morning of today that there was heavy rainfall? Well, I didn’t panic about the rain concerning any of my farming but to my greatest surprise, when I woke up this morning, a friend of mine whose farm is close to a river rushed to check his rice farm and he decided to call me on phone to inform me that my own rice farm was also flooded by today’s heavy rainfall. Well, I didn’t just waste much time responding to my friend's call about my rice farm.
When I got to my rice farm, behold every angle of my farm was flooded by water. Well, I was a bit scared because I never expected that they will be another flooding within my rice farm this year again after the previous one that happened before my planting. During my observation of the farm, I noticed that the rice I planted that has stayed for some months now was not removed by the flood because its roots are already strong from the soil. I later became happy again at least what I have labored for will not be in vain.
When I left in the morning and decided to check back on my rice farm this evening, I noticed that the flooding had left my farm to the extent that no one would ever believe that such a thing happened to the farm in the morning. Well, my rice farm is back to normal again.
I will not close this post without an acknowledgment to for his numerous support for most projects initiated in the community and some other related ones and I say more effort to do more.
