I have one HUGE zuchini plant plus three smaller ones in my garden.
Three days ago I harvested around about six zucchini and gave most away.
Today I harvested again picking eleven zuchini (ten from the huge plant) weighing a total of 7 kgs.
Two hours later I revisited the big plant to take a picture for this post and see that two small ones which I did not pick have already doubled in size and could be picked!
The biggest one I picked today was just over 2 kgs.
This is the first time I've had my own veggie garden and I am astounded by the results. I think a big part of it is the huge supply of aged cow dung I discovered, rock hard covering the floor if the barn about 12 inches thick. I had to use a pick axe to break it up.
I made raised beds and filled them with a mixture of cow dung and soil and mulched them very well with hay/straw, also from the barn. I've also been adding home made sting nettle and urine fertiliser every 2 or 3 weeks.
Anyway, if you happen to live near me (near Kyustendil in Bulgaria, please come and collect some free zucchini. (Don't worry, the urine fertiliser is added to the soil, not sprayed on the plants 😀).
