As a farmer, each season brings new lessons, some with success while others hit so hard and leave lasting reminders today I want to share one of the toughest ones.
With the festive season around the corner, many of my neighbors started preparing earlier buying full cartons of broiler chicks to raise in time for the celebration 🎊 but I was only able to afford 13 chicks way below the number I would love to have
At the time, the price was attractive — lower than usual — and all the birds were healthy and active.
10 weeks later the 13 chicks are still alive but they look like they are nearly 5 weeks old, these breeds are the slowest growing breed and it takes more time for these breeds to grow compared to broilers which are fast-growing breeds that always grow fast, within just 10_11weeks they are ready to be sold out
But these has thought me a great lesson not to be relying on cheap things sometimes there is negative reason for selling for selling things at cheaper price
The owner might have seen the slow growth and decided to sell them but unknown to us we went for such
