I am having a later then usual cup of coffee this morning and looking forward for my neurons to get all excited.
in a recent post:

I talked about the maximization of space in the nursery / veggie garden (the line between this two is blurred in my case) by planting short term annuals alongside slower growing perennials.
today, I want to share a challenge (because problems do not exist) that arose in this system and a quick fix I came up with.

the Blackbirds are very present and very active right now. I assume they are nesting and the demand for calories is high due to them feeding their young. these birds are as strong as little chickens and are very good at digging for food.
the effect of the coffee slowly kicks in..
it started in my large bath tub planters that they started digging in for warms and insects.
once I placed this plastic mashing, they could no longer dig.
then they moved to the next, so I kinda had to copy paste the solution with a plastic crate and that worked too.
so they just moved to do their digging in the mulch protecting the Pecans in the deep pots. and what a mess they made. all mulch out, deep holes.. this time it took me a bit longer to solve but the idea just came to me. I took my old unused #Electroculture antennas and other small branches and stuck one of them in each pot, now it became very uncomfortable for them to stand in a pot and do their digging dance. it became too tight. and it worked like magic.
the corns planted alongside the Bamboo plants grow so fast that some are already bigger then the main plant. they will provide some shade and protection and hopefully will even give us some cobs to eat. amen.
Thank you for stopping by 🙏
wishing us all a peaceful rest of the week.
