Hello everyone greetings to us all it's been amazing journey into 2023 already and we're back to raising livestock growing crops, planting seeds and taking care of our homestead farmland for food, both for domestic consumption and mechanized farming, this is my pride as a farmer cause I know deep down that I'm a food producer and as such I'm relevant cause every body must eat food to stay alive 😁, and they must go hungry so when they do?..they come looking for me, no matter the amount of money you have you can't eat it raw, you must bring it to me for exchange the food you need.
Interestingly everything needed in life for producing one thing or the other is gotten from the farm lands with some mixture of chemical substances here and there also if you must eat healthy and stay soumd you must go natural i.e fresh veggies and fruits.
Sorry for digressing a little that was necessary for my own self confidence 😂🥂
Okay!!...as a farmer I don't only attend to plant but I have just at my backyard a little square-sized poultry farm that sometimes holds UpTo 100-200 birds, I do this while attending to other things, so what I do is I got up early in the morning and take care of my chicks before heading out to other business on daily
Raising birds sometimes can be complicated unlike taking care of my plants, you know some times I like them to raising a child, which you must constantly look after so they don't get hurt
And so guys today I'd be sharing some of the routines step and checks I do on daily base to keep my chicks healthy and safe from disease and infections
STEP ONE
REFILLING THE FEEDS
Just like other animals, like goats, pig or basically any living thing needs food for energy and growth chicken loves to always peck on their feeds almost every minutes so if you want your chickens to grow strong and healthy you must always clean and refill their feeds every morning, and so I make sure their feed container is cleaned every morning before refill to avoid dirt's and contermination.
STEP TWO
CLEAN THE WATERER AND REFILL CLEAN WATER💦
Every morning I have to clean the water cans wash them with soap and warm water, rinse them thoroughly and pour in clean water in them, to grow healthy chickens ensure their water is clean and safe for drinking, if the water is dirty they might not like to drink and they can dehydrate if they are without a clean water to drink
Some times dirts like shavings, poop, straws get into their water and it is not healthy for them.
STEP THREE
OBSERVE THE CHICKENS TO ENSURE THEY ARE HEALTHY
Observing the chicks daily for vital signs is very necessary for their health checks, active, alert and bright eyes and smooth feathers are good vital signs to know that your chicks are healthy as sick beds will most of the time be weak and inactive with dull eyes
When I notice any of these signs I will isolate the beds in a separate room for treatment so as to prevent the spread of the diseases or infection.
STEP FOUR
WASTE MANAGEMENT
How you manage the waste, poop from your poultry farm is also necessary, since I have a waterleafs garden by the side I often use these excrete from my poultry farm as manure, so every week end I do a thorough cleaning of the poultry house both in and out to ensure that no paste or infectious element is attracted to them.
STEP FIVE
MAKE SURE THE LIGHTS ARE KEPT ON
During the day the temperates here are mostly warm except during raining season, so at night it becomes cooler so the warm lights needs to be kept on to provide heat and warmth for them especially at night so the cool don't get to them...
This are some of the things I do on daily weekly and monthly bases until my chicks are due for some good Cash for the market place,
Thanks for reading thru and never backing out
MUCH APPRECIATED 💯👍💞
