Quite the weather day yesterday. We were in for some solid thunderstorms later but first it got good and warm.
The alpaca was not down at the hut but as I walked out to climb the hill to look for her there she was gimping down the hill. Yay no morning hill climb needed.
Got the boys to school then headed out on a bike ride on the mtb. I was going to go for longer but the mount holding my Edge was sliding around thanks to no grip tape around the bar. The wash board on the road made it wonk over forwards so I had to hold it in place till I got back to the pavement.
I managed my old half marathon running loop in okay time, slower than I had hoped but not bad considering the much bigger tires and the heavier bike.
Back home as it was getting hot I headed out to the garden and got even more scapes picked. Still rows that are trying to put them off so I will still have more every day or other day to pick for a while.
I also got a text from a client wanting another irrigation system installed, this time at their old house that they have as a board and care. I spent some time building a parts list thanks to easy measuring on Google maps. I will go over today for a site visit and to talk to her husband about it. Hopefully next week I can install it. It will be another 3 day job most likely but easier this time after having done their other system first, which is smaller than this will be.
PDC finals day and it was Littler who again managed to win. Took to he last leg but he beat Humphries.
The tree service had to top the trees beneath the power lines and thankfully they listened and kept the lower branches to help block the road noise for us at the house. They had a long reach bucket so did all the work from the road without needing into the farm.
Nifty little flowers growing in the shade near the gate.
The thunderstorms were hauling ass across Idaho then the mountains east of CDA slowed them down A LOT!
Big difference between Windy and my Wx app...
got home and we all headed up to the high school for Ram Fest. It was seriously gloomy as the leading edge of the thunderstorms was already overhead as it started.
We got food at that Game Day Grill trailer then sat in the stands to eat.
Stood and talked with people we know for a good bit while the boys were engrossed in GaGa ball... Part way through R vanished and I saw him at the cotton candy booth... He got a huge one!
7pm and the lightning was visible to the south nearing Spokane.
The GaGa ball (look it up) pit was PACKED with kids of all ages and sizes. R was one of the smallest kids to climb in.
The clouds were KILLER! So wild looking and really ominous.
That hole was really crazy looking. It was 7:30 when the event got shut down as the storm was about 20 minutes out so the place emptied quickly.
The rain began as we were driving home after stopping at the nearby store for some ice cream. WE got home and the Windy doppler showed INSANE amounts of lightning in the storms! We got home then sat on the deck and watched the melee as it passed around the farm. It seemed Mt Spokane or the crest along to the south helped bust the cells so they were not aimed right at us.
The news said there were 3000+ lightning strikes from the system as it moved through. We watched until after 9pm when the main lightning had moved to the west of the farm and it was just raining.
Storms passed and it will be cooler today. The boys to school in a while then I will head over for the site visit. Need a base ride today, setup the irrigation parts order with Horizon, Giro is on now, PDC is on, will pick more scapes, and then come up with dinner this evening.
