Yesterday morning I was out the door before 5am as I am not sleeping well with my eczema still acting up. I stopped at the first brewery and loaded up the 5 barrels, 4 to the trailer and one to the truck bed with the empties.
I then dropped the empties below the Steam Plant stacks.
As soon as I got home I ordered our new freezer from Lowes. It worked out well that I waited since on Monday only 4 showed in the Valley store but when I looked yesterday morning there were suddenly 1 at the north store.
I got a short soak in but had to be out to get R to school. J was still not in any shape to go. As he was standing next to his bed after 7am his vision started to black and I knew he needed to get food in him. He went back to sleep till late in the morning when he finally got some food in him and perked up a lot.
In order to go pickup the new freezer I had to empty the grain out and unhook the trailer. I managed to get backed up all the way to the top of the garden and was able to spread all 5 barrels out there. I need maybe 3 more to coat the remaining part of the 3 rows.
About 9 I headed to town and within an hour was home and had part of the patio cleaned up and the freezer plugged in and cooling. Crazy how light the little thing is empty, I just lifted by hand and hauled it from the truck with ease. I also stopped at North 40 to buy a new little aluminum shovel after loosing my last one and I like the color of the new one much better.
Since J was still not up I went and picked up the Nerf bullets around the yard so they weren't lost in the snow that hit later in the day.
Then at 11 I got started on the wood splitting and by 12:30 I had split all but 6 big rounds and a small pile of small rounds.
It took me about half an hour to get it all stacked which gives me now half of my wood storage filled.
I picked R up from school then once home was able to get the tarps on the wood pile as the first blips of moisture were falling. The forecast was for 2pm snow start but it took till 3pm for it to hit, and when it did we got a nice dump of big huge fat wet flakes.
Pretty healthy snow storm that ended up dropping 3 inches by the time it moved off after dark.
There was just snow bombs and some occasional drips as we soaked. It's always nice after a snow as the highway noise is muffled immensely. Snow is a great sound insulator.
I slept for pure shit last night, so bad my watch never recorded sleep data. Between the sick the boys gave me and the incessant itching I ended up on the couch but my mind was moving so much that I got tiny bouts of sleep before a cough or itch would drag me awake again.
The boys have a half day of school and both are going. I am filling myself with honey tea and I am going to see if I can max out on vit C. The freezer is going to get filled with the turkey today, I have snow to shovel and push around, and likely get some writing done after my lessons this morning.
