It was the last wrestling tournament of the season for R yesterday and we were there nice and early to ensure a spot to sit.
His first match took a while to happen but he grabbed the kid and pinned him right off the start.
The next match was against a kid a good bit better than him and he ended up losing on points. He was pretty distraught after the match.
His next match went into the 2nd round when he managed to get the pin. He used some of the frustration from the prior match as fuel.
He was then in the 3rd place match which ended up going all 3 rounds and he lost on points. He did really well this season and has improved markedly over the past couple of months.
I got a text from his daughter that my best friend had fallen while rappelling a 20-30ft rock. He fell from the top and is in the hospital. The surgery to repair the shattered lumbar vertebrae went well but he has other broken bones. Thankfully he is alive but this is going to be a long road to some kind of recovery. I am quite scared for him and his family and will do whatever I can to help them as they navigate the future. I hope to see him today or tomorrow.
So once we got home I headed to the store for pvc parts then home again to hook up the trailer and head up to haul the tree back.
I was a bit distracted by Art's injuries and forgot a ratchet strap to hold the shit down. Thankfully I was able to cobble together a long enough strap.
It took me about 20 minutes to load up all the tree pieces and head for the farm. I had discovered that I had the wrong size parts for the pvc.
So then the branches all got offloaded to the burn pile then the rounds dropped by the curing stacks.
Unhook the trailer then drive back to North 40 for the correct size parts, stop at the house for the piece of 1 1/14 pipe I forgot to grab, then drive back up and fix the pvc.
Back home I went. The back roads are actually faster than going to the highway to get home. And it is just like the roads I grew up driving on so are super fun when no traffic.
I got the speed and cadence sensors for my bike. MOR METRICS! I will test them out today on a ride.
UFC fight night in Seattle was badass. McKinney form Spokane got a 26 second knock out win in the first round and is 4th or 5th on the UFC most first round knockouts.
Michael Chiesa of Spokane Valley fought his last fight ever in the UFC and he won in the first round by a rear naked choke, his signature move.
I went out and got the trailer hooked up for the grain run I have done.
Then got a soak in before bed.
I have been to town for grain already and will empty the trailer in a while. We are getting a cat today, I will go on a bike ride if not raining, burn the burn pile, and hopefully go see Art in the hospital but if not maybe tomorrow - it all depends on the hospital allowing visitors.
