The mycelium runs deep in this one... Yesterday morning I found more massive fungus popping up by the coop. This mycelium is a rather large patch that runs the length of the coop which is 20 feet. I will look today to see if I can more to determine just how big the fungus is.
The summer squash got one last picking before I ripped them out. I got 25.5 pounds but 13 of that is the monster seed squash. It is a breed of my own that is a mix of 4 or 5 different squash over the years. It used to be just like the green Ronde De Nice in the tub but then got mixed with all the other squash I have grown over the years.
It was noon and I had to pull the fence back to have access for the wheelbarrow. I started pulling plants and piling them on the in and on the wheelbarrow until the pile got tall enough that I had to go dump it.
The sheep dove into the piles each time I dumped a load in the pen.
Next load that got wheeled in to them.
I took a bit of a break to eat, watch some of the World Grand Prix of darts, then pick the boys up from school. Once back I kept at the squash and got another load hauled to the pen.
Then finally on the 4th load I had all the summer squash plants pulled.
Now with them gone I am able to pull the plastic back on the south end so I can go dig for more red potatoes that I might have missed in my first harvest.
This is just the summer squash from the main garden, I have all the winter squash and melon plants from up top to bring down too.
Thankfully the muscle relaxers helped my back during the day so in the afternoon I was in the potato garden digging more. The ones I dug are some of the most wonky ones yet.
I got just shy of a full tub from 2 of the remaining 4 partial rows.
Just the bottom 2 partial rows left to dig.
I washed the potatoes all off and then left them to dry in the late afternoon sun and winds.
Later in the evening they had dried enough that I was able to box and weigh them which came out at 55 pounds. So far I have dug 409 lbs of potatoes with more still in the ground. I will for sure end up over 500 lbs.
The main fork head on the plane's front wheel needed the fiberglass rods removed. I had tried using the socket and hammer to extract them but it did nothing. So I used the drill to drill a hole down the middle of the rods.
Then I was able to use punches, chisels, the socket, and the hammer to remove the pieces. I then was able to measure the length I need which is 13" long rods to replace. Well, where I am going to order the rods only sells standard lengths of 6" or 23.5", both of which wont work as the 23.5 in half would only be 11.75". So I sent an email asking for the special cuts and to get 6 of them so I will always have spares.
Early to soak, early to bed. I actually got almost 8 hours last night which is a good bit longer than most nights.
I think I have my NaNoWriMo prjoect for this year which is to finish the story I started too many years ago finally. I have a pretty good memory of the story line and have it all dumped into Scrivener along with all the research I have. Problem being is that my story line has since happened in real life, or pretty damned close. I'm still going to finish it though since it needs TONS of editing and formatting to bring it to place where I can actually finish the story.
Today I have to finish digging the potato garden and take the fence down so the birds can have at the soil, work in the main garden on tear down, PDC is on again mid day, I need to haul the wood rounds to the yard, then this evening I will be grilling.
