At this point I don't argue, I just get up when I wake up at 4:30am. It ends up not being worth the effort to try and go back to sleep so at least it gets me out the door nice and early before any traffic in town. Coupled with the fact that it was DUMPING rain there were few people out. I got to the first brewery where I dropped a pair of empty barrels. The downpour is visible.
I got lucky this time and there was no one in the lane to turn right onto Washington towards downtown. So often ignorant people take up the lane to go straight while there is a line of us to turn right behind them. I really really can't stand oblivious drivers.
I got the trailer backed into the alley and got out to a sill steady and hard rain falling. Gave the stacks a cool look.
I had 5 barrels to load with a couple brim full. I slid the lightest into the bed of the truck and the 4 on the trailer. I noticed, (as per usual) someone was behind the dumpster across the street, the normal drug den, in the dumping rain. It really astounds me that they are regularly there and that there hasn't been a body found nearby from overdoses.
I got the boys to school then parked the truck and trailer till later in the morning once the rain had stopped for a while. At 7am we had .45" of rain and it was still dumping during the day.
I spent my morning working on my story and ended the day with over 8000 words edited and added. There is so much I have to fix in editing this as I go. I originally wrote the bulk of the story in zero formatting file, no paragraph breaks, only quotes for dialog and general punctuation. My tense flips back and forth constantly and even within the same sentence... I've found I have a couple sections that are completely missing and will have to be written, but I am getting a clearer view of how this should all work out and I think I will have an ending for it.
It was near midday when the rain finally abated for a while and gave me the chance to go empty the barrels. I backed the trailer up next to the pole garden where I spread all 5 barrels. I was a bit surprised to find they were enough to cover the entire garden. The birds were pushing in as I spread the grain so a number got covered in thrown shovel fulls. I lobbed shovels over the fence to the sheep who don't like being left out of the tastiness.
The rains came back through in a few waves over the afternoon but by around 3pm the backside of the main storm had passed. The Kraken played last night and actually won. They did better on the road last year as well so that seems to just be their m/o again. I got dinner made while remoted in to work for a while. We eventually got out to soak.
Today is our one day of no rain shown in the entire forecast so if I want to get anything done outside today is my day to do it. I have my next chapter about a third done so far and will get it done today which will put me near 21k words. I have to get the freeze dryer going with batch 90, boys to and from school, and I will grill tonight since it won't be raining.
