Woke to another 2.5 inches of snow yesterday morning. That is over 3.5 feet of snowfall so far and more is in the forecast. Thankfully the bulk of the snow fell overnight and during the day only another inch or so fell.
When I went to let the birds out for the day they didn't go very far from the coop and many of the birds stayed inside where the heat lamp is. This is the most snow that we have had on the farm at one time since we have owned the place.
Over the morning it continued to snow but far more sporadic and I was watching the doppler for when I would be able to go start moving the snow around the farm. No reason to run the snowblower if it is just going to drop more snow on me.
Around noon I got the snowblower going and then spent the next 2 hours clearing the driveway and the paths. I have to say that I really love the Briggs & Stratton 850 series motor that I swapped from my old tiller. The Craftsman motor was a real piece of shit that would never start easily and ended up blowing up. The Briggs is so easy to start that one pull and it is going again. The blower did a commendable job and even allowed me to widen the driveway cut a bit.
One hell of a massive difference having the snowblower alive. Once I had things cleared I was able to head across the highway to the post office to mail off the package for the family.
I had to go out a bit early to close up the outside hut that the birds sleep in as it is zero degrees this morning. When I went to put them in a bit later they all were in the coop without me having to do anything. They know where the warm is.
The next 72 hours will be a nice arctic blast with us getting down to -30 F wind chills and -12 ambient tomorrow morning. My skin has slowly been healing and I only have a few hot spots that are hanging on while the rest is noticeably better. Thankfully I have been able to feather out my last little bit of prednisone to get me through as my appointment is Friday for more.
