On Tuesday morning when I stepped outside to do chores, the colors were so deep and lovely I went back and got my camera.
This tree has been dropping leaves for nearly a month and now the driveway has a golden carpet where the tree stands.
The red maple has only just started dropping leaves, adding to the color.
It’s quite a pretty picture, but I can’t quite capture it with the camera.
The East of Steps chrysanthemum has caught up and it kept some of the goldy color I had bought it for.
The West of Steps one is a darker color, not the goldy I had gotten it for. But they are a nice splash of color in the garden.
As I had the camera, I got a shot of the barn.
And along the middle pasture...
In the back 40, the color is just coming along on the north side. Across the back it was quite brilliant, but the trees are nearly bare now.
Both sides of the back 40
I decided to write a letter and send it certified about the grills. This shows them sideways in the big windows.
This shows the juxtaposition to the adjacent windows.
This is the kitchen window and it’s much too small grill.
In reading the quote we’d gotten in July 2019, I was listing what the windows were and when I went to list the grills, I discovered the big window grill numbers had been transposed and the awning window number written in with the wrong numbers. So this is clearly their mistake.
I hope I get some response to the letter, as they won’t return calls.
I spent the afternoon finally finishing all the windows and the doors. That job is done! The remaining October jobs are getting the winter clothes out, planting garlic, cleaning out and mulching the Big garden, taking soil samples from the 3 big gardens and sending them out, weeding and cleaning out the New Herb garden, and maybe starting on some of the other abandoned gardens.
On Wednesday it’s to be cold and raw. I had both stoves going Tuesday night. I’d thought I’d go outside to the Big garden but we’ll see what it’s like in the afternoon when the sun comes out. I may do the winter clothes change out. I should get the garlic seed out of the cellar and prep it for planting. And I need to make sure I have at least 225 markers ready to use. So not shortage of stuff to do inside.
