Tuesday was to be a rainy day and my intern was to come to inventory freezers. But she started a new part time job on Monday and was too tired to get up for 9AM. She said she’d come in the afternoon.
By the time I found her message, I had already dragged these filthy coolers outside and washed and disinfected them. They had bat and mouse crap all over them.
As I was going up the steps to the front porch I noticed something odd in the handrail.
The rain had brought out this little gray toad. I’ve seen them off and on over the years.
The MacIntosh tree has a few red apples on the south side of it. There’s not going to be many apples this year.
My intern showed up some time after noon and found me asleep in my bed. I had gotten very tired about 11AM and lay down to read.
So we visited for a while and in the course of conversation we talked about things I had in my attic. There were some books she wanted to read and I had stored, about 15 years ago, a dozen boxes or more of household things for my son’s first apartment. He’s never gotten one and it seems unlikely he will now.
My intern will be getting her first apartment in February, so we brought the boxes down from the attic. She took home 3 of the smaller ones and we plan to go through these for what she wants before October when I have to start the masonry heater.
After she left I watched Dirty Dancing with the commentaries on. I learned a lot of cool stuff about the movie and actors.
My backup helper is coming on Wednesday and we will do those freezers. That will do me in for sure.
