Hello Everyone!
Getting on track, Hobbling around, Walnuts for the rooster & I would rather be gardening!
Alright, I am more or less on time this evening with my writing routine because I skipped taking a late day nap... and started doing my late day chores a little earlier than when I have been. To be clear here, I did try to take a nap... but after two days of being off my feet with this lame foot injury... I was not feeling tired enough to fall asleep.
As far as the foot injury goes, it has not been as painful as it was yesterday... and if I am very cautious I can hobble around by walking on its heel without too much discomfort. Fortunately, the few times today when walking on the heel lead to it being painful (and my leg buckling under me) I had something nearby to catch myself on... or was able to just sit down before I could fall.
Anyways, my poor little remaining rooster has continued to 'hang in there'... and I have continued to make sure that he always has water and food within easy reach when he is immobile. Which was for most of the day actually... and it was not until just before dark when he finally responded well to me trying to help him stand... and he has been 'up and about' for the last few hours since then.
I am still unsure what exactly is wrong with him, aside from what I noted that it might be in yesterday's entry... but I went ahead and gave him a bunch of (mostly crushed) walnuts because they are high in Vitamin E. I had racked my brain for how to get some of that vitamin for him... and I was pretty stoked to realize that the walnuts would do the trick and that they have some 'special' kind of Vitamin E in them.
Since, I have been giving him the walnuts for most of the day (while he steadily consumed small dish after small dish of them) I am now wondering if perhaps they are actually why his health seems to be improving. The longer that he has been on his feet tonight, the more alert and 'well' he has been looking... so mayhaps he is on the mend.
On a different note, I spent much of the day piddling around doing more writing on that fictional material... and trying to not let myself go stir crazy thinking about how I would rather be gardening. With all the food insecurity that I have had to cope with (during this adventure) it is no wonder that I feel such a heavy compulsion to continue planting stuff... while the time is ripe for it!
Given that I have already planted a lot more stuff than I usually do and did it earlier than usual I am ahead of the curve in some ways... but need to 'keep at it' if I am going to reach my goals. I also need to order some 'seed potatoes' and corn as soon as I can afford to... because (aside from the squash and pumpkins) I would like them to be my main crops since they are so shelf stable.
The constant juggling of prioritizing various resources and what to spend my limited finances on... are pretty bonkers... so having any 'extra' to spend on seeds is gonna be tricky at best. That said though, it is probably worth it to spend whatever I can on them.. and maybe even get some other seeds as well like eggplants, cucumbers and perhaps some other kinds of squash or even gourds.
Well, I think that I am going to call this entry 'good enough' and try to get it posted before the hour grows much later. I hope that everyone is doing well. Ta ta for now.
