HELLO HIVE
Watering my rice nursery by hand may look a little bit old-fashioned in a world where technology has taken over, rice is a staple food crop that starts its journey as a small, vulnerable seedling that requires precise care and attention during its early growth stage.
The process of hand watering the rice seedling
It is a nursery process that involves manually distributing water to make sure that the seedling gets the mixture it needs to thrive it is usually done with a watering can or any kind of manual equipment to distribute water to the seedlings the water supply is more controlled which makes it more ideal for seedling's that are still very young and require more care than the older plant.
It requires the farmer to be present in the field moving along the rows of the seedlings and adjusting your technique based on the soil moisture level and the needs of the plant.
The challenges of using hand watering to distribute water to the plant
The key challenge is the time and labour it demands which makes it a very demanding task especially if the field is large and it could be impossible to achieve if the land is so large that we can't cover, there is also the need to carefully distribute the water to prevent overwatering and underwatering some parts of the farm each of these seedlings requires just the right amount of water supply too much water can cause root rot and too small can cause stunt growth.
I am making use of a bucket to get the water from a well to the place where I have the nursery and this is only possible if the water source is close to the nursery, I have no option right now since I can't predict the rain the seedling's need water to grow.
