Happy new day to us all, it's a other opportunity to arise and shine and I do hope that we are healthy, strong and full of energy to face the day.
For us today is that day we would be planting our very own fluted pumpkins in the farm. I have often stressed about the importance of growing healthy vegetable for consumption to avoid any form of food poisoning and discomfort after eating.
Yesterday a neighbor purchases some African spinach from the market and after taking it's meal with her family, they all experienced a severe case of diarrhea making them seek for drugs and Oral rehydration therapy. Many factors can cause food poisoning especially with growing of vegetables.
Adding excessive fertilizer to veggies for enhance their growth is not totally good for our health and while other try to shy away from these fertilizer to use organic animal droppings there is also a challenge with using that.
I often advice that if we are going to use animal dungs, always ensure to apply these dungs before cultivating the land, this will bury every form of worms and disease agent causing agent before planting the veggies.
It is not safe to apply animal dungs directly to vegetables, one can contract disease causing worms from these after consumption as I have seen some people apply animal dungs directly on vegetables.
We will be planting more of our own set of fluted pumpkins today. Alot of people engage in growing vegetables here and a variety of different specie of veggies is often planted.
The land of often very dry and difficult to cultivate in this season hence we have to deploy some labourers to assist with the cultivation of the land.
We would be planting the pre grown seeds to ensure that all the seeds adapt well and continue to grow. Pre-growing seeds in cans at home often give the assurance to planting viable seeds. It is important to grow only the viable seeds to ease ourselves of any form of wasted efforts.
Since farming is the major occupation here, people are not tired or relenting in planting and growing seeds regardless of wether the season is hot or not. Growing Vegetables like this is a primary activities during the dry season while the other grains and forms of food is often grown during the wet seasons. The only difference is that it is more expensive to grow anything at this time as some form of finances is often required for irrigation farming.
