Hello Hive
Happy Sunday to my dear homesteaders. We have just close from Sunday service some few hours ago and I decided to take a nap after the breakfast. Yesterday work at the farm was a bit hectic that I didn't even get enough time and rest to drop a blog. I will tell you all about the details by tomorrow.
For today I'm happy to share with us a secrets that is currently helping about of people here. We have learnt how to grow pepper and preserve pepper to make it useful for the raining days.
Since this week pepper have become really expensive that most people are unable to afford the fresh one
I have gone to purchase some pepper yesterday and couldn't even purchase the fresh one too. I have to go with the crowd to purchase this dry ones
Earlier this year when it was pepper season and they were in surplus I have learnt how to naturally preserve pepper without having fo use harmful chemicals. One method is by cutting the pepper with knife and sun drying them. If the sun is of very high temperature the peppers gets dried naturally preserving it's natural color.
These commercials sellers have their own methods of preserving peppers especially this long ones. I was surprised to see how that this pepper was preserved without loosing its color. Some people go ahead to heat up the pepper over fire source to drain the excess liquid in them first before sun drying. The pepper seller also promised to show me more methods I can use to preserve my pepper after harvest.
I dislike the fact that there are some chemical people use to either preserve these pepper 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️ or enhance their color. Natural methods like the ones we use here are more healthier and safer for human consumption.
The pepper I had bought and earlier preserved has exhausted, I never knew that they would be exhausted in such short time. They have been very useful for me in this season and on the point of purchasing more I realized that a lot of people are also purchasing this pepper.
The taste of the scotch bonnet and this other long pepper has remained the same. They are reddish, peppery and of good quality for making our meals. Hence these natural way of preserving pepper is important to us.
I also got some spicy and was glad to see how these sellers are having a Lucrative business with selling veggies, peppers and different kinds of spices.
