Happy new day to us all
It's a bright and beautiful new day here and we have had one of the best weather since yesterday. I was able to sleep and rest well and I feel so light and refreshed this morning. And just like our normal routine we have been at the homestead yesterday still monitoring the growth of our scotch bonnet peppers and other veggies here.
Even though we have had another downpour yesterday the challenge of tilling the ground still remains. We are yet to find labourers that will assist us in tilling the ground here so that we can start with planting the grains for this year's farming season.
Farming here is just a hassle but since this is the only way place we get our meals from we have to endure with the challenges
After a long period of delayed growth our scotch bonnet finally picked up and are doing very well now.
First we harvested the corn planted within the pepper and that seems to give it space for more growth. Though we often engage in mixed cropping planting pepper and corn together or any other plant , it seems like peppers don't like growing along side other crops, they like to have all the space to themselves. And since it was equally a dry season this peppers witnessed a delayed growth not having sufficient water like they desire.
Mind you we carried out adequate irrigation here but still that didn't seam to be sufficient.
From delayed growth now to delayed ripening.
Having noticed this massive production for about a 3 weeks now it's noticeable that the pepper are also taking their time to start ripening.
Other specie of pepper here are getting ripe and being harvested but this scotch bonnet looked delayed in ripening. It has continued to produce more peppers and flowers while we anticipate when they will start getting ripe for harvest. We are not sure of what to do about this yet but will continue to watch and see how this plays out.
It's not good to eat too many artificial foods hence it is better to allow this ripen on its own than look for any artificial ripening chemicals.
