Hello Hive
Upon a visit to the farm today the planted okro farm has moved from been something like this
To what we now have here below
There has been growth both positively and negatively.
Nothing much happened here only some okro plants trying to grow and survive.
Blessed evening to us all, hope we are having a wonderful Easter evening. It has been quite and solem here as most time are making the best use of this moment of reflection comparing the suffering of Christ with the pains in our current world. It was only on palm Sunday a week ago that some bandits attacked a village and killed several people in the evening with mothers struggling to bear the grief of the loss of their children. A particular picture was even taking where a mother held so tight to her child in bitter pains like when the mother of Jesus helpful her son after He was brought down from the cross. I pray that the reason for this season will truly heal our lands and bring peace to our world.
On a solemn day like this we often do not do any work in the Farm during these catholic Tridum as everyone will try to at least fast and meditate but a visit to the farm was unavoidable for us as we needed to pick some vegetables to use for our meals. And check on the farm too as herdsmens are often so irresponsible and can feed our hard grown crops to their animals. Since the government has never shown interest in bringing solution to our farming challenges and we have to survive as farmers, we do our best to grow the crops, protect the crops and ourselves.
On the visit to farm today it wasn't satisfying to see the condition of our okro. It has been over a week we came to this very farm and upon arrival what we are seeing is not satisfactory at all.
The okro has all turned red from it's dark green color and grasses are gradually taking over.
They are unable to cope with the dryness. The greater challenge here is that of water, these grasses aren't overwhelming enough to cause any negative growth on the okro yet.
And right after the Easter celebration we will be back here to weed of the grasses.
The water from the irrigation is sometimes not enough for some crops and trying to get as much water here can be expensive. At this time we are all hoping for the raining seasons to commence fully. The rains are often a blessing and more cooler on crops than any irrigation water.
This was the condition we left the farm earlier today and guess what, it was a divine timing and just as if God heard our prayers, we are currently having a downpour of rains and I'm so happy.
The rains are here and it's about time to return back into the farm.
