Hello Hive.
Jokingly we decided to add tomatoes to our list of crops in the farm and you can see the fresh fruits that is ripe and ready for consumption.
Tomatoes don't give us much of a headache to grow like other crops besides we are not into a large scale production of it.
This is just a tiny addition beside our growing cassava plantation.
We have kept the whole farm neat and watch this grow
The ridges for these vegetables have been made so high to keep the plant above the ground.
This stage is where tomatoes needs more attention because of the followings
Heavy wind can blow off the fruits
Tomatoes can experience sun burn and blisters
Fruits gets rotten any moment they touch the ground.
To prevent all of these you can do the following.
Add extra support to tomatoes plant, maybe like a stick to coil the plant around it, this keeps it above the ground and standing upright at all times
Very high ridges keep plant above the ground, as too much water can get the plant to rotten up.
Sometimes a shade is needed to protect the fruits from sun burn.
This species of tomatoes takes around 60+ days from planting to harvest.
We use tomatoes alot in our meals and you can bet that these ripe ones are heading straight to the pot from here.
