Hello Hive
Good morning beautiful souls, I hope that the new day meets us well and that we are doing great in our health and endeavors.
Well yesterday could have become a potato say for us but I was meet with the sad discovery that there is nothing to take home from here.
I sincerely do not know how to express my dissatisfaction towards the farming activities for this year. It has not been too pleasing. Formally this year is one of the many years we would enter most farm and not be able to take anything home.
In one of our beans farm which I showed us some few days ago it's hardly would we be able to harvest 5kg of bean in an acre of land.
That is really so bad and painful but I felt a little relieved because we have planted two different species of beans and in different locations.
While this our beans farm here was drastically affected by the harsh weather and dried off almost immediately we still have another that has been hanging on and will be giving us some food at least. Some seeds are often better adapted to dry conditions than others, this is why we often experiment planting different seeds and at different times. As soon as we learn a better variety of a particular crop we stick with growing that very one to avoid drastic farming losses.
Yesterday we decided to stop by our tuber farms to see how far it was progressing at this time. This should equally be the time/season where we are meant to harvest our potatoes. But low and behold this is what we have got.
There is practically no single tuber in the root of these potatoes, not a single tuber to take home, funny enough some rodents got here before us. Rodents equally enjoy digging and eating tubers as well but they must all be disappointed this time around too 🤣🤣😂😁.
The potatoes plant are all just leafy and turning brown already but nothing to show, the leaves are already drying off and with the absence of rain it is not possible for these to produce anymore. We have wanted to have some potato meals yesterday but reverted to eating some beans instead. I'm not so sure if there will be some potatoes for me to harvest from my sack planted potatoes at home. I have planted some potatoes in the sac at home, as soon as I settle down I will check on those sacs and see what we got.
