Hello Hive
A beautiful new day to us all, it iwbtulw to arise and shine as we are up already to start preparing for the days farm work. Yesterday there was a heavy downpour towards the evening when we got back from the farm and we are delighted that the rains are fully here. With that now people can start clearing their farms and preparing for proper farming aside this vegetables farming, gardening and others.
I'm so happy that the ground is finally wet even more extensively now extensively compared to yesterday while we were at the farm.
Yesterday we had continued with our weeding excercise which we have started about the week before Easter. The farm is a bit massive though not owned by one person, I appreciate the fact that everyone works here to support.
The rain will make our work more easier today and all the vegetables that have been struggling to
manage the irrigation water will now have sufficient water.
Weeding started from the fluted pumpkins farms, through into the corns until advancement has now been made into the pepper farms and scotch bonnets.
Since the grasses were begining to affect the crops we hired some labourers to join in the tasks so that the weeding can be completed on time.
While at it, I found yet another specie of pepper yesterday making it a third category of pepper found in this scotch bonnet farm.
Just imagine that we have planted only scotch bonnet seedlings in our farm yet we have meet with about 2types of pepper now that has mixed with what was planted.
Seeds/seedlings often mix up. Some get mixed at storage, while some get mixed after planting when fertilization is going on.
Different pepper specie from different farms can get mixed up and there is nothing that can be done about it. This is simply the work or nature.
To avoid this after planting a community of group of farmers that grows crops at thesame area can decide to buy and share similar seeds from thesame source. This makes it's possible to avoid foreign seeds from mixing up with whatever we intend to grow.
Check out the real scotch bonnets here , have produced we are highly expectant of it to get ripen so that harvest can begin.
This second type of pepper got mixed up with it and having produced she is already getting ripe
And there here is another type with a more resemblance of scotch bonnets and soon as it produces they are getting ripe already
They are all not bad but I don't like the second category in the picture, they taste different when used to cook. The other type has no difference in taste and can serve as a good replacement for scotch bonnet. Some pepper specie bear their differences only in physical appearance. There are more and more types of pepper Species that can be grown which I have shown us before. The long pepper 🌶️ types just like this shape of that emoji and another bell pepper types. All are useful pepper specie types.
Hopefully we would make more progress today and put the entire weeding session behind us. This is a routine exercise done monthly or at regular interval to keep the farms off of weeds.
