Hello Hive
Happy new day to us and a pleasant morning to everyone, hope we had a sound night rest?
I remember telling us how we have planted different pepper specie in this season right. While we have some at their flowering stage, others are already producing pepper fruits for us. All of these pepper have their local names we have giving to them and this particular one is called "Tatashe" it's a long form of the chilli pepper.
For now I can recognize at least 5 different types of pepper specie and upon harvest of these varieties I will show us what they all look like and the local names.
These other ones here are the scotch bonnet pepper which are both flowering and producing seeds at thesame time just like I said that the flowering is often prrceede by seed production.
Flowering started about two weeks ago and in a week time or so we should be having some scotch bonnet pepper here which will equally need some time before harvest.
We have been taught severally as children not to play around pepper fields or make them cast off the flowers, mum will always say that it is the flowers that will give us some food. It is important to watch pepper fields carefully against any of these disturbances, humans and animals wouldn't be permitted to walk within the farm carelessness at the stage.
The plant roots should be well covered with enough soil and watered. Peppers can be very fragile and wither away if not we'll taking care of.
It is important to conduct every form of weeding exercise we desire to do before this time and keep the farm as clean as possible just like the very one we have done here.
I am aware that most river sides around the country have these kinds of farming excercise going on and this system of farming has been the reason why we often have enough fresh pepper available for consumption during dry season like this.
