I want to use this medium to greet all great Hivers. How has been your day so far, hope you are all doing good? I'm positive minded that it's all well and fine.
Conventionally! The most difficult time to plant vegetables and crops in large quantity here in Nigeria is during the dry season. Farming here Nigeria is hugely determine by season, nature and weather. That's the reason why finding vegetables during the dry season is so difficult plus crop like maize and sorghum are hard to come by during the dry season. This is the period that if you are able to find few of these things around, they are always expensive if you want to buy.
For some times now I have been pondering on owing a small garden but two challenges are standing in the way of making this small garden comes to reality; first challenge is a space while the second one is some of the stubborn domestic animals we have around most especially goats which could disturb the growth of the plants in the garden. But for the last time I want to give it a try and that's why I'm creating a small garden beside my pen. Originally, this space was one time being considered to be used for maize challenge 2022 before I was able to get a wider and more secured space.
One of the things I'm happy about is the opportunity to make use of the birds feces as manure to increase the fertility of the soil. It's a dry season which might be one of the challenges I'm going to be facing on how to water the plants. Although we have water tap around and close by which could reduce the challenge.
One thing I need to make sure and in place is how to secure the space first from the reach of these stubborn animals before thinking of planting anything in the space. Hopefully, I'm looking forward to plant vegetables like jute mallow, Africa spinach and few maize.
