I want to use this medium to greet all great Hivers. How has been your day so far, hope you are all doing good? I'm positive minded that it's all well and fine.
There are two different vaccines that are designed to be administered on Broiler Birds; that's gumboro and lasota strain, with both vaccines giving on two different occasions each for four weeks. This four weeks imply that, it's going to be administered every seven days for weeks. That's about four times. Meanwhile, there are different pattern that these vaccines can be administered on the birds. Some farmers use
- Lasota strain on the first seven days
- Gumboro in their fourteenth day
- Lasota strain again on the twenty-first day
- Then Gumboro again on the twenty-eight days.
While some use this pattern below
- Lasota- day seven
- Gumboro- day fourteen
- Gumboro- day twenty-one
- Lasota- day twenty-seven
There are basically different patterns that are being used by farmers but normally there are reasons why these vaccines is advice to be repeated twice each.
Why it's advice to administer these vaccines on two different occasions each?
The major reason why it's advice is that, normally administering the vaccines once each(for the first two weeks) is enough but the reason why it's good and advice to administer it on repeated terms is that in the first two weeks of these birds where only lasota and gumboro are being administer, some of these birds might not be vaccinated properly. You will observe some of these birds were sitting down and feel it bothered while others are getting vaccinated and by the time they feel like they should go to the vaccinated water and drink, the live pathogens might have become inactive.
So it's because of this reason why it's good to vaccinate these birds repeatedly by repeating the lasota strain and gumboro shots for another extra two weeks on the third and fourth week. Though if you are rearing birds that are not more than 50 birds, I think vaccine them for the first two weeks is enough but if they are more than hundred upward, repeating the vaccine is advice to repeat the shots for another extra two weeks.
