Hello Hivers!!
Welcome to my blog.
So, I introduce my new interns to rabbit farming.
As part of my ideas of farming I believe integrating both gardening and homesteading is the best approach when it comes to farming in this part of the world, because of the numerous challenges faced in any farming venture.
Rabbit farming is one of the best farming ventures I have ever involved my self with.
There are very nice to take care of and are very prolific in nature.
Although most people keep them as pet, in this part of the world were I stay, we keep them for meat.
Rabbit meat is one of the best meat you can ever find, it is very low in fat as compared to chicken meat and high in protein which is an ideal meat for all ages both old and young and it is more tastier than chicken in my own experience.
In the lecture, I talked about every aspect as regards rabbit farming which included;
- Housing
- Rabbit breeds
- Feeding
- Taking care of the new born
- Weaning
- Breading..etc.
It was really and interesting lecture..
After the lecture we moved to the rabbit farm, for them to have a practical work with the rabbits.
For their task, There feed the rabbits and gave them water, it was really fun for them as there had to touch a rabbit for the first time.
There were quite afraid though, but I encouraged them.
It was fun.
There took some pictures of them holding the rabbits and where very excited.
