Hello everyone, hope we're having a nice homesteading experience.
Before anything at all I would like to show my profound gratitude to the team and
team for honouring me and my co winners in the last contest. I really appreciate, Blessings...
Today, I'll sharing with us what I have on my little yam farm. Some weeks back, I had share with us my soon to harvest maize farm and my two weeks old maize, cassava and beans farm. I'll be giving us update on them very soon.
But today it's time to explore my yam farm. It's been awhile I had plant it, last year December to be precise.
The planting was done by putting the whole tuber in the soil if the tuber is small but if the tuber is big we cut it into pieces before putting it in the soil.
Moving forward, there was a time we had to do the mulching (i.e we gather some leaves and place it on the heaps to prevent the yam from drying off or prevent water loss through evaporation.
The last time I went to the farm I discovered that some yam did not grow at all so I thought of giving it some time maybe it will grow with adequate rainfall but to my surprise its still in the same state.
This one of the challenges faced by farmers when you plant a thing and and it's not yielding just as you want it or did not grow well, it discourage some farmers but for me we try again, quitters never win, winners never quit that's my "watch word".
I'll need to restrategize against the next time I'll be planting so I won't have the same problem.
Nevertheless, when I saw that some yam vines were coming out, I had to gather sticks, installing them vertically in the midst of the heaps and then twist the yam vines around the sticks. The sticks would help to support the yam to bringing out a good yield.
So far, this is what have got... In no time I'll be looking forward to harvest my yam.
THANKS FOR STOPPING BY,
Don't forget to embrace Agriculture.
