Hi Everyone,
It's with great pleasure that am welcoming everyone to my blog and I hope you're all doing well and having a great day. I will like to share with you about new development regarding my poultry farm business which I started not quite long and I hope you stay tuned till the end.
I started poultry farm business some months ago which I decided to raising broilers bird which is specifically for meat production as my offline business and as means to improve my finances. The fist first batch was a success though I have to went through different challenges, but it was a success despite all the hurdles and no mortality rate was recorded during those period.
After I sold all my first batch of broilers bird out, I decided to bring another set in but it was really challenging as I have to wait for some weeks due to the production and demand issues from the company I used to buy my day old chicks, but finally my 75 day old chicks arrived today and the work has already started again after taking my time for some weeks.
On the arrival of my day old broilers chick, I have so much to do while settling them in to the pen and below 👇 are the things I do..
Before their arrival, I have make sure to fumigate and clean my birds pen against any sort of diseases and the other materials needed for the brooding as well and since I already knew that my birds will arrived today, I have make sure to prepare their bedding using sawdust because bedding is very important when bringing your birds especially the day old chicks. The bedding is necessary for the absorbing of their feces, prevent unnecessary odours or smells and most importantly give them the warmth needed.
While bringing the birds to the pen, I make sure to dip the mouth of each the day old chicks in to the already water prepared with glucose. The important of this is to ease off the stress they went through because of the long distance journey they travelled and to boost their energy as well.
While settling the birds in to the pen, all the side of the pen has already been covered with canopies to prevent air from coming in since what they presently need now is warm temperatures. One of the challenges I will faced right now with my second batch of broilers bird is keeping them warm unlike the first batch that I have a free ride since it is during dry season period and I don't have to stress myself in keeping them warm because of the heat during dry season. But that's not the case for my broilers bird second batch. The rain has been pouring consecutively and the pen is located under the mango tree at the backyard. The breeze coming from the tree is to much so I have make them warm by burning some charcoal.
And since, they are day old chicks, it will be difficult for them to pick up their feeds, so I have make sure to smash their feeds and remove the big bigger size using sieve and giving them the smaller size to aids easy feeding and digestion as well.
They are active and settling well in to their new environment and keeping my eyes on them is what I must do to make sure they are in great shape and keep them healthy. I will keep you posted regarding their development and I hope you will keep checking on my blog.
