This is a follow up to:
@vincentnijman/dreaming-of-manifesting-more-storage a post I shared 4 months ago, where I talked about the building and the plot of land right next to our property being available/ for sale as its current owner is getting too old to work it.
If you haven't already done so, or to refreshen your memory, I suggest checking that write up out first. For the avid readers amongst you, there is also a link to a post wrote about the same subject.
Or, if you can''t be bothered/ are low on time, just keep on reading...
Since we acquired our plot of land, late July last year, Clare and I have been struggling with living in the only building on there. In fact, we have spent more time sleeping in a tent near our unhouse than nights sleeping inside the building.
To summarize:
Our current land is amazing It's full of life ( edible geens, beautiful flowers, nut trees, fruit trees, olive trees, a forest area and all the birds, insects and bigger wild life that comes with it ).
The casetta that came with it is an ugly construction, built on old stables, that is mainly suitable as a storage space, eventhough it isn't entirely dry/ weatherproof.
our unhouse, as seen from our recently changed olivegrove ( due to extreme rainfall )
We have been - and are trying - to live in this building but are only partially succeeding.
It was more out of necessity, during Winter ( we couldn't stay in our tent ). And because our attempt at staying in a rental house only lasted 5 weeks.
We have been trying to sell Clare's/our old house in a city 3 hours from here, for many months now, but haven't had much luck so far.
The aforementioned, plus the fact that we are two creatives who have been vomited out by the system ( we have practically been 'debanked', in a world that is going through a time of extreme inflation and a huge financial shift that only benefits the rich and possibly those who comply ) , we are quickly running out of funds.
Suffice to say that we can hardly afford groceries, let alone find the money to improve our house.
In fact, we are trying to do as much as we can without spending anything: foraging/ living from the land, using natural building materials that we find around us, etc. but we can only stretch ourselves so far and things move forward at a snail's pace... 🐌
The current crypto bearmarket ( and - let's be honest - the price of Hive ) doesn't help much either. Having to sell our Hive that we've worked so hard for, for so long, for a measly 6 cents per coin is painful, to say the least, but we have to keep ourselves fed. And just living on greens from the garden doesn't cut it.
Anyhow, eventhough Clare and I have gone through some seriously stressful times and the end isn't in sight yet, there is a glimmer of hope on the horizon.
We are in the talks with my mother to acquire a sum of money that will allow us to not only buy our neighbor's land and the building constructed on top of it but hopefully also leave us with some extra funds, so we can invest in actually doing some restoration/renovation work, make our lives more comfortable ( we don't have a bathroom nor a toilet, right now ) as well as to keep ourselves properly fed/ our morales up in the next couple of months.
It will sure take the pressure /weight of our shoulders and make our life quite a bit easier.
Clare and I have been inspecting our neighbor's land and property in the last couple of days and are trying to visualize living there/ taking care of it. In fact, we are already taking care of some beautiful old fruit trees that have been utterly neglected in the last half a year or so.
It feels like it's all meant to be ( ours ) :^)
Our current house, on the left, plus our neighbor's building, on the right
And here's the two buildings, as seen from below our neighbor's orto/ veggie garden.
These pictures also show how little space there is between our buildings. Clare and I didn't.move to the countryside to have direct neighbors one meter away from us ;^)
Comunque/anyhow, we are about to talk to our neighbor very soon and start the negotation process and are also continuing the conversation with my mother.
We truly hope trust that we can convince her that helping us out financially is the right thing to do.
Fingers crossed that it's all gonna work out.
To Be Convinued...
