This morning, and I woke up from a little bit of sunshine, making its way into our bedroom ( a couple of meters away from our bed ).
It was still pretty chilly, even though we had had the woodfire on until we fell asleep. A starry night and a series of humid days in a row had turned our bedroom into a bit of a fridge.
Hardened as we are, after a couple of months of living in the countryside under challenging circumstances, we decided to have warm breakfast and a warm drink and afterwards we went out to saw some more firewood.
And - in Clare's case - to do some digging and moving of mud and earth to deal with a continuous puddle on the forest track to and from our land.
This track. Notice the mud on the right?
Now we could have easily burned firewood the entire day and sat inside ( where it's not much warmer than outdoors ) but, instead, we decided to warm up by being active outside and save on logs.
Burning fat instead of burning wood.
After about an hour and a half of sawing, I decided to walk to the village to spend some time in a bar ( to write and move some crypto ) and to get some meat.
Clare said she was going to start the fire and spend some time being creative indoors.
The river ( that wide, grey/brown meandering 'snake' ) is filling up nicely, after months of containing hardly any water. In fact, we haven't seen this much water in it, since our arrival here last July.
Approaching the village...
I am looking forward to returning to a warmer house later and will bring home the metaphorical bacon.
I wrote the aforementioned, yesterday, before lunch.
During and after lunch, we had a bit of a challenging time.
We ate the chicken dish that I had prepared in silence.
We ended up talking a lot, after lunch and throughout the afternoon/ evening and started feeling a bit better.
At least Clare did, after getting it all out of her system. It took a bit longer for me to process everything.
Let's say that I usually don't express and process emotions and feelings as quickly as she does.
We then had another weird night, where I woke up several times. Three times in a row it was because of our cat. Until she finally went outside to hunt, when I went for a midnight pee. ( Clare, not the cat ).
I was awake a lot afterwards.
Clare apparently slept quite a lot better but ended up feeling pretty shitty after waking up and got up very early to move the energy. I felt like spending the day in bed, as I felt drained, but knew that would likely not make me feel better. So I got up an hour later, around 7:30.
Stepping outside into our garden, as soon as we wake up and doing some physical work on our land is the perfect remedy to all illnesses. In fact, it's the best prevention. A natural remedy.
We both started feeling better pretty immediately and after spending most of the morning outdoors, Clare prepared an amazing lunch of buttery rice with turmeric and raisins, Brussells sprouts and minced meat/Bolognese sauce.
The rest of the day was pretty awesome.
Once again, we managed to turn things around.
The weather was as chilly ( with no sun in sight ) as it was yesterday, but we are keeping warm and have managed to keep our spirits up.
Some time spend in the garden, as well as keeping the communication going has made a big difference.
The two of us have spent a little over a year and a half together now ( almost full time, as we don't work regular jobs ) and we are still learning about each other and ourselves every single day.
It's hard work but it's so worth it!
Don't miss out on Clare's post from today for more details on our life(style)!
