I have about 50 minutes to write this post, as that is when the bar closes that and I are sitting in, drinking a latte macchiato for a change. We usually drink orzo ( barley coffee ), these days, as caffeine has too strong of an effect on us and we like to stay in control of our minds, if we can help it. Instead of being controlled ( like the masses ).
My phone has been in hibernation mode for a handful of days now ( hence my absence here ) and we don't have wifi at home, so I have mainly been in the now. Focusing on working on our land, with my hands, some gardening tools and little distraction ( aside from Clare's company and the occasional podcast that she listens to ).
The weather has been all over the place this week. From Spring like temperatures, warm enough to make you sweat. And, in my case, to walk around our land in a T-shirt, to heavy winds that kept us awake at night.
Then, yesterday night, we saw snow clouds on the mountains in the distance and some lightning. And - this morning - we woke up to light snow and almost freezing temperatures.
We just had a shower at the local hotel and really enjoyed the luxury of hot running water. The owners are persone gentili who allow us to have a hot shower whenever we feel like it, for a total of 5 Euro. A very good deal, as they do have to clean the bathroom afterwards and the money basically just goes to the cleaner. We spent two nights at the hotel, late October last year, after living in a tent on our land had become a little bit too uncomfy ( due to wind and rain ), before we temporarily moved to a rental house. The latter was quite a disaster and only lasted 5 weeks, as shared on our blogs.
It's now 5 months later and we are living in our not very comfortable casetta on our land, almost full time. But, due to limited funds and trying to do everything at the right time/ al momento giusto, we haven't gotten around to creating a bathroom yet, on our land.
Coffee sure seems to speed up my writing. 350 words written in 15 minutes...
Comunque/ anyhow, the hot shower sure warmed us up and so did the coffee that followed it. I just bought us some nice meat from the local butcher so we can have a couple of nice 'Winter' dishes until the warm weather returns.
Talking about that, Clare and I basically stopped checking the weather forecast, as we realized that - as is the case with the mainstream news - it seems merely there to confuse us. They always focus on the extremes and make you worried about some kind of disaster, under the guise of 'climate change'.
We just try to take things day by day. In other words, after waking up, whether it's to sunshine, rain, snow, wind or a combination of the aforementioned, we adjust accordingly. Today we woke up to light snow and cold and we decided to go for a hot shower. Tomorrow might be an entirely different story.
26 minutes until the bar closes. Time to slowly wrap up my writing for today...
Right now, I'm being distracted by the Italian TV in the background, showing a silly talk show that does a good job frying your brain.
Weather permitting, I will be spending a couple more hours working on our land, later today. Only extreme rain or serious heat ( we will have to wait a couple of months for the latter ) can stop me from not being outdoors, these days. Clare and I chose a life in the countryside, with the idea to spend as much time as possible outdoors, in nature. Not to live a cosy indoor life filled with screenstaring and technology.
In fact, with the direction that the world is seemingly going in ( Central Banking Digital Currency, Universal Basic Income, Increased surveillance and so on and so forth ), the chance is more likely that we turn into Amish than that we obey the government and receive their so called benefits and privileges. Freedom is too important for us. We didn't change the city for the countryside without a very good reason.
TO BE CONVINUED...

P.P.S. Due to my phone not working, I unfortunately had to recycle old(ish) photos for this post.
