TEXT: Proverbs chapter 16 verse 18 (ESV:Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall).
Proverbs chapter 11 verse 2 (ESV:When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with the humble is wisdom).
Pride is a hidden deteriorated and superlative behavior or character that is in the heart, it is lethal, and it is one of the greatest disturber of the soul's peace and our sweet relationship with Christ. It is very difficult to be extirpated and eradicated
As Christians, pride shouldn't be seen in us, pride is a natural thing, we were all born with it so it is our duty to fight with it on daily bases. We should abstain from pride and determine to honor God by our daily humility
You should also know that the devil is fighting day by day to make and lure the children of God to things that will ruin and render us useless.
A case study I would want to use is "King Nebuchadnezzer" in the Bible (Daniel chapter 4 verse 1 to 37).
He was comfortable in his house and flourishing in his palace. As he was resting in bed, he had an horrible dream that terrified him. So he insisted that all the instructive men be brought before him that they might make renowned to him the significance of the dream. when the spiritualist, wizards, escapologist and scientist came, he told them about the dream but they couldn't elucidate his dream. Finally, Daniel who was filled with the spirit of God came into his presence and gave him a clear definition of the dream.
HERE IS THE INTERPRETATION OF THE DREAMS: He will be driven away from people and will live with the wild animals, he will eat grass like the ox, Seven years will pass by until he acknowledge that the Most High is sovereign over all kingdoms on earth and gives them to anyone he wishes.
But he bluntly refused to repent. He was carried away by his wealths, wisdom, rank, position and he used it to talk to people carelessly not minding his choice of words. Immediately what had been said about Nebuchadnezzer was fulfilled. God was angry with him and God made him small, reduced him and made him begin to think like an animal until he left his throne, wealth and went inside a bush eating grasses for seven years. At the end, his eyes were opened, he learnt a lesson, he repented and started praising God.
CONCLUSION: We should do away with pride and be humble because we may not have a second chance to repent
The Bible say "God resisted the proud and gives grace to the humble".
