It was my first visit to Abuja, the capital of my country. The aim of the trip was just for an official document in one of the numerous government offices in the state. I knew the trip was going to be long and stressful one the movement our bus started giving problems a few minutes into the journey.
Long story short, we slept in a fuel station and the driver transferred us into another bus the following day. This second bus dropped us at a place called Kabba junction where we were expected to take another bus to Abuja but no bus was coming so we had to take a car.
The moment I joined the car, two things came to my mind. Either we have an accident or we get into trouble. My reason for such thinking was that all the passengers in the car were all youths so full of life that they were drinking and smoking together.
About one hour into the last lap of our journey, we were suddenly overtaken by a private bus. The next minute, our driver increased the pace of his speed, running like someone who wants death at all cost. All I could do was just to read from Psalm 23 of the holy book. Next we were in front of the private bus then the bus driver started his own race.
This time around, when he was driving side by side with our driver, he spat on our car. This got our driver angry and he decided to park and wee in a bottled container. Then the driving began again. In no time, we were side by side with the bus again and this time, our driver poured his wee into the other driver and his passenger.
Ah wahala! I thought we had lost them at the back only for the bus driver to block us at the front and all of us to come down. The car carried myself, one pregnant lady and three other guys. The private bus driver was a naval officer fully dressed for duty but smelling like of wee courtesy of our driver.
The movement I realised the kind of trouble the car driver and his friends had gotten us into, I became really tired. Can't I just end this trip in peace? Long story short, the car driver did two thousand frog jumps while I count and the other guys? They ran off the movement the private bus driver stopped our car. That day I thought maybe the good man wants to punish me for a mistake. Looking back, each time I remember I curse the car driver for messing with a naval officer.
