I don't know about others, but I've grown to a stage in my life where a lot of things no longer make sense to me, and it's not because I'm a too matured or born in the 80s....or a weirdo.
Sometimes I come across some movies, see the actors, hiss, and discard the movies instantly. Yeah, it has gotten to that extent, and for me to retract my dislike for those things, it's going to take a lot of persuasion from my mind.
There's one Nollywood actor, Bolanle Ninalowo. He does his things excessively in movies, especially how he shows off his muscular physique and how he speaks with an American accent in a very regular manner. There was a particular day I was talking about my dislike for him in the presence of a female friend. The friend told me I was jealous because I don't have a muscular physique and that I'm the opposite of him(yes I know I'm slim. Maybe that's true, but I just don't like how he presents his physique, making it look like it's the only thing he has to offer in a movie.
His accent? Gosh! I hate it when someone is proving what is not supposed to be proved. No lies, he does well with the American accent, but his constant use of that accent in most of the films I've seen him in has made me dislike him. The producers of those movies are not sensible enough to know that the American accent tied to him is becoming too much.
I won't lie, this is the actor that made me stop watching Mr Macaroni's skits. Oh yeah, he was becoming the center of the skits, so I stopped. I don't like seeing what I don't like.
It's been a long time since I watched a Nigerian movie, but even at that, once I come across one or someone tells me about one that has this actor in it, I block my ears immediately.
Thanks for reading.
