Howdy Paaartners😄.. Welcome to my entry for this week's contest. I have been quite a loner; in the sense that I have not had pets i can call my own. I have interacted with the cats at home but that has been a different story. However, last year in October, my status changed. For my love of cats, I went ahead and got myself a cat and named him Trey.
I should've known it was short lived. No no! Trey didn't pass on. He ran away as fast as his legs could allow. I know you're wondering how that happened. Well, you have to promise not to judge.
In my first week of having Trey, my friends invited me to cinemax. It'd be on Suturday and we would leave at 4 pm to beat the traffic. On that fateful Suturday, I joyfully danced around the house all the while assuring Trey I'd be back. "Hey baby, here's your snacks in this bowl and here's your milk and incase you want some water, here's your water," I cheerfully told Trey as he danced around my leg. I made sure to put more than enough, so I knew he wouldn't go hungry while I was at the movies eating popcorn. Smart move yeah? Well wait for it.
As we waited for our movie to start, I received a notification from my next door neighbor.
"Hey Tabs, where are you at?"
"I'm at Nyali Cinemax. wosap?" I replied.
"We got a problem." He texted back.
"What do you mean, we got a problem?" I replied alarmed.
"It's you cat. It won't shut up! It's been crying non stop."
"But I left him with food and milk. He's missing me already?" I replied with what I thought was a sense of humor. The joke was on me.
"No, Tabs.. he isn't missing you. You forgot to leave your lights on! He's crying out of fear not because he misses you." His reply came like a blow against my unguarded, soft face.
I turned to my friends, my hand covering my mouth in dismay, . "Mahn! I left my cat in the dark. My neighbor texted me that he's crying," I told them in a hushed voice. I could tell they were trying their best to hold in their laughter. One friend told me, don't worry, he'll calm down and fall asleep. How could I not worry? Every five minutes, I'd text my neighbor to ask if he has calmed down. An hour later, my neighbor gave me a positive reply; he had calmed down.
I did try to enjoy my night, even though time to time Trey's cries came to haunt me. We got home at around 5.30 am. I thought that Trey would be glad that, finally, mama was home. Haha, allow me to laugh because the moment I let him out, he bolted for his precious 9 cat lifes.
I bet when his cat friends asked him why he's running like one who have seen a ghost, his reply was, "I am running away from that crazy woman! She tried to kill me with darkness!"
Trey, baby, I love you still. I am sure my son would have loved you too. Do come back, naah. It won't happen again, I promise.
Thank you for reading😊.
