Championship Weekend

It's going to be a pretty busy weekend as far as sports go. I'm actually not sure I am going to be able to enjoy it all given that the holidays are right around the corner and we will be preparing for that. Last night though the semifinal games for the College Volleyball Tournament were held and it was a pretty thrilling outcome.

Texas A&M who has never made it to the tournament before and came in as a three seed ended up taking down Pitt in straight sets. Pitt was a number 1 seed and they have been a powerhouse in college volleyball for quite some time now.

My wife has been cheering for Texas A&M as an underdog for most of the tournament. She likes their story and has really enjoyed watching them play. I was holding out hope for Wisconsin so that at least one Big Ten team would be represented in the tournament, but sadly, they got knocked out last night in five sets by Kentucky.

That means I will be jumping on the Texas A&M bandwagon as well. They play in the championship game on Sunday at 3:30 PM EST against Kentucky. Go Aggies!

Meanwhile, the college football season playoff bracket gets started this weekend. I don't care if you don't watch any other bowl games, those playoff games are the ones you are going to want to keep an eye on. We have number 9 Alabama at number 8 Oklahoma tonight at 8:00 PM EST, and then tomorrow we have number 24 James Madison rolling into number 5 Oregon at 7:30 PM EST.

Oh yes, I almost forgot number 10 Miami taking on number 7 Texas A&M at noon on Saturday as well as number 20 Tulane facing number 6 Ole Miss at 3:30 PM.

It's going to be a full day of football on Saturday.

Meanwhile on Saturday, there are also nine top 25 College basketball games being played. I will be tuning in for the Michigan State/Oakland game at noon, but that Houston/Arkansas game could be good as well as the Texas Tech/Duke game. Finally, if that isn't enough basketball for you, you might want to check out Auburn heading to Purdue.

Then, on Sunday, there are nine more top 25 games happening. If you can pull yourself away from the NFL, you might want to check out, oh never mind, none of the game really look all that great. Just plan on watching the NFL and college volleyball on Sunday!
