There is only one thing left to watch for at the weekend now. Arsenal are champions after dragging out the whole contest longer than nessessary, but at least the title race is finally done and dusted.
The five champions league places are settled bar an ice age level disaster for Liverpool and two of the three teams are already relegated, so the table has almost been set in stone for the season.
So it all comes down to two matches on sunday, with everything hanging on ninety minutes and a bit of chaos.
Tottenham Hotspurs - Everton
West Ham United - Leeds United.
Thanks to chelsea winning midweek we have one last bit of excitement to watch on the final day of the season, which is more than anyone expected a few weeks ago when the bottom half looked like it was already sorted.
If Spurs can win then they are guaranteed to be safe. If they draw then West ham need a win by at least 13 goals.......... Which might be a stretch or if Spurs pull a Spurs and lose at home to a team with nothing to play for then West ham just need a win and they will escape relegation. I wouldn't put it past them to fight their way into safety just to balls it all up on the last day.
Imagine the slagging spurs will get if they get relegated the same year that Arsenal win the title. There will be no living with the neighbors if that happens and with Spurs it just might. That is the kind of thing supporters never let go of, and it would be hanging over them for years.
Soccer is a funny game at the best of times but with everything on the line for two massive teams it will be interesting to see if they will fight to stay up and who comes out the other side of it. These are the sort of matches where form goes out the window and one mistake, one missed chance or one lucky bounce can change everything.
That's not even mentioning the mess that's happening in the championship with spygate and Southamton losing their place in the playoff final after admitting to three counts of cheating. It has turned into another one of those stories where the football gets lost under all the drama, appeals and arguments about fairness.
I don't know about you but to me it seems fairly harsh to cost the whole team a chance of promotion over a couple of spying charges when it doesn't have that much effect on anything and the punishment is way more than any other club has gotten for far worse breaches of the rules. A warning, a fine or a points deduction would at least feel in the same universe as everyone else.
( Man City anyone? )
They will obviously exhaust every avenue to get back into the hundred million pound match but so far it seems like they are out of luck. And even if they do get another shot, the whole thing has already taken some of the shine off what should have been a huge occasion.
The two main storylines to keep an eye on for the coming weekend when all else is neatly wrapped up until next year.
