And we're live.
After all the drama of the qualifiers we now know the groups for this years world cup.
Unfortunately Ireland won't be there but it was always a long shot so we will just have to make do with the teams left and whatever excitement the tournament will bring.
It's going to be interesting to see all the drama which is yet to unfold in the lead up to the tournament with USA actively at war with Iran and at odds with a number of other competing countries who might yet not even be able to participate in the event.
In terms of the World Cup itself it's going to have a very different feel this time around with48 teams competing for the very first time and what I would expect to be a lot of mismatches along the way.
England - Panama
France - Irak
Germany - Curazao
Brazil - Haiti
To name a few. It's a lot like the watered down version of the champions league that we have seen the last couple of years.
I think that like the champions league it will be a bit of a bore fest in the early rounds with the tournament getting moving once they reach the knock out rounds and we lose the minnows from the event.
At the end of the day we will still end up with a very familiar looking last 8 teams depending on the later match ups.
With the visa uncertainty and the cost of living crisis this has the potential to be the worst world cup of all time and will take something special happening to bring it to life in my opinion.
Let's wait and see what happens after the premier league ends but it's not that long away now.
