Something has been broken on Hive for a long time. Communities launch. They give a snapshot as per Hive stake. Everyone sells the token and the Community is dead before they get started. They disappear. Rinse. Repeat.
We are not doing that.
SportsBlock is building something different. And today we are launching a key piece of that vision: MEDALS curation.
At the moment our native token MEDALS is primarily being used with our sports prediction models which are going quite well in fact. Users also use them to tip other users on our shortform content page known as Sportsbites. So from today we will begin building out our MEDALS curation plan for our loyal users using our platform.
How It Works
Our curator team — 
For long-form posts: 100 MEDALS per curation
For Sportsbites (hot takes): 10 MEDALS per curation
Each curator has 5 curations per day. That is up to 500 MEDALS flowing to content creators every single day on top of the normal Hive rewards.
The 5% Beneficiary Rule
Here is the deal. To qualify for MEDALS curation on long-form posts, your post needs the SportsBlock 5% beneficiary set. Posts made through sportsblock.app have this automatically. No extra steps.
Why?
Because communities need to be sustainable. That 5% goes back to the Sportsblock wallet where we are building up our stake which we will use in our Community. It funds the MEDALS reward pool. It funds contests and prizes. It keeps the lights on so we can keep building features that benefit every single member.
This is an investment in your own community. We are like the Amish here on Sportsblock. Everyone contributes and helps out. Every platform takes a cut. YouTube takes 45%. Twitter takes 100% of your content value and gives you nothing. We are asking for 5% and giving you MEDALS on top of your Hive rewards in return. The maths is not complicated.
Sportsbites will also be curated and there will be no need for beneficiary requirement on our short form content. Curators award those freely based on quality.

There is no secret formula. Our curators are looking for:

- Consistent effort over time
- Hot takes on Sportsbites that get people talking
- We are rewarding people who care about sports and care about this community.
What We Do Not Like
- We are not mad about Actifit posts so they won't be curated
- Low effort copy-paste jobs will not make the cut.
The Bigger Picture
The most curated post each week automatically becomes Post of the Week on the leaderboard. That is visibility. That is reputation. And over time that MEDALS score determines your rank — Rookie all the way up to Hall of Fame.
We are building a meritocracy. Write well. Engage genuinely. Get rewarded.
Communities Done Right
Too many Hive communities have been extractive. Take the beneficiary. Provide nothing. Blame the users when engagement drops.
We are doing the opposite. Every MEDALS token distributed through curation comes from the SportsBlock reward pool. The 5% beneficiary funds the infrastructure that makes those rewards possible. The curators are real sports fans who read your posts and make judgment calls. No bots. No auto-votes. Human curation by people who know sports.
