Good day, everyone, and welcome to my blog. What an end it has been for both the Copa America and Euro 2024 last night and early this morning. It was worth the wait, and as I said, missing any of the two matches was not an option for me yesterday, and I am glad it went as I hoped in both competitions. The Spanish giant took on the golden era England team in an epic showdown for the Euros2024 title. It was just as I predicted with Spain going all in to win the competition and don't get me wrong. England are good, but they are not better than the Spain national team.
Spain never had it easy in this tournament coming out from a group that had defending Euro champions Italy and one of the toughest teams in Europe Croatia but still able to beat these teams in the group stage and walk into the next stage of the competition with 9 points from the group. They made a comeback against Georgia and went on to beat two of the highest-ranked teams in FIFA (Germany and France) to book their place in the finals and still stood strong against England to win the prize they desired from the start of the competition.
Spain came well-prepared for the finals and never lost focus throughout the 90 minutes of the match. Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal again stepped up for the Spain national team, and I can't wait to see this young duo continue what they started in Spain for Barcelona next season. There are reports that Hansi Flick is pushing to bring Nico Williams to Barcelona and probably this week there will be more light on whether Nico Williams will join Barcelona or will be snatched by Premier League clubs this summer window.
Lamine Yamal was the one who set up Nico Williams for the first goal against England. Incredibly, Lamine keeps on shining in the biggest stages of football at the age of 17, which is insane. I am sure Lamine Yamal is going to make history in football. We just have to wait and see this youngster blow up in the coming years. A week ago and posted something on Twitter about Lamine Yamal breaking every record that Cristiano Ronaldo had in the Euros and some people think it was a joke, but last night Lamine Yamal's assist to Nico Williams set him on the right track to break Ronaldo record.
Lamine Yamal now has 5 goals and assists combined in four international knockout games, while Cristiano Ronaldo has the same amount of goals and assists but in 22 international knockout games, so Lamine Yamal equaled that record in his first international appearance for the Spain national team and friendly reminder again he is just 17 years of age which is crazy. Cristiano Ronaldo is an incredible player but whatever he did in the Euros will be broken by Yamal in the future and that is just the truth.
Congratulations to everyone on the Spanish national team, they truly deserve the title and the interesting part is that we are going to get a Finalissima match between Spain and Argentina later this year. I won't mind whoever comes up top because is a win-win either way for Barcelona fans and Messi fans, because if Argentina wins the Finalissima Messi will have five international trophies in his career, and if Spain wins the Finallisma Lamine Yamal and the rest of the Barcelona players will have three to two international trophies in their ongoing football career.
Looking forward to the Finalissima and this is where I say goodbye but not for long because I have the Copa America Post coming up soon. Thanks for stopping and have a good day.
