At least in part, our screens have always been characterized by their frames. Early TVs had tiny 10-inch screens, housed in huge cases which looked more like furniture than anything that you might recognize as a modern TV. But those distinctions slowly disappeared over time as CRT sets eventually took over smaller, more flat panels. Today the technology industry is basically waging a war on bezels. The smaller the border around your displays, the better— every millimeter separating the monitor from the real world is an affront to good design.
