Hello
Everyone hope you all are doing great. My days are going fine too. I like to travel a lot. Past 5- 6 years I have travelled a lot of places in Bangladesh. But couldn’t find a good plot to share them so I am sharing them with you all. I hope you will admire the beauty of Bangladesh too. So today I am sharing another travelling story with you from last year.
I had been planning for a long time to pass a moonlit night in the vast water of Tanguar Haor
So I started planning around the full moon on October 1st. This time I was determined to go to Sunamganj. The good luck smiled on me, a team of 15 people was ready to go. From Sayedabad on 30th September, the bus started its journey at 10:45 pm. Besides Sayedabad Bus Terminal, there are avaible buses in Fakirapul and Mohakhali Bus Terminal such as Mamun, Ena, Saudia, Nur, Ekta, Mitali, New Line etc. Direct bus fare AC 900 taka and non-AC 550 taka; It takes 5.30-6.00 hours to go.
I woke up by the morning light, the bus was still running inside Sunamganj. Looking at the window, the vastness of the Haor on both sides and the rain in the distance, made the mind cheerful.
The bus dropped us at Sunamganj New Bridge. From there we reserve a Laguna ( kind of vehicle) for Tahirpur. However, the driver of Laguna did not mention that the road was broken a few kilometres before Tahirpur. We paid him 750 taka. After crossing the broken part on foot we again reserve CNG for 180 taka per vehicle direct to Tahirpur market. Usually CNG reserve takes 500 taka from Sunamganj to Tahirpur, 200 (2 people) by bike and 1000 + by Laguna (10-14 people). However, it will be a bit less until the broken part.
After breakfast at Tahirpur Bazar, I contacted the boatman who had been arranged in advance. We finished the market episode with the help of a friend from Sunamganj and the Boatman. When we got on the boat, it was 10 o'clock in the morning.
The boat was on its way to the Watch Tower, meanwhile the cook was cooking lunch. The hills and aquatic trees in the middle of the Haor had multiplied the appearance of Tanguar several times. Arriving at the Watch Tower by noon, we jumped on the water of the Haor and had a lot fun. Floating on the water of the Haor, swimming, bathing, drinking tea in the water, I will remember this for my life time. I had the good fortune to climb the Watch Tower and see the huge Haor, it just seemed like a sea. After bathing for about 2 hours, we started the journey to Tekerghat. We stopped the boat on the way, and had our lunch with plaice, rice, potato mash, daul in the haor.
We reached Tekerghat before noon and got off the boat with our belongings. Then we planned to go to Lakmachhara by bike, as we can't go there by boat. 50 taka per person; Although we can walk.
Lakmachhara had a little texture of Jaflong. Enjoying nature, we rode the bike to Niladri Lake. Niladri in the afternoon brought us extreme peace and the full moon of Niladri in the evening. For 10-20 taka per person, you can go around Niladri Lake by boat. Around 7.30 pm we got on the second boat.
After having snacks and drinking tea in the boat, everyone roamed around and got in the boat. Then the songs were played under the full moon in the boat for about 3 hours with the help of guitar in the middle of the Haor. At the end of the night, we had duck, polao, soft drinks and went to sleep with a little chat.
I woke up in the morning and freshened up again. We passed the morning with Niladri Lake and bade goodbye with a cup of tea! After some shopping, we took a boat and ran to Jadukata river, Barekkatila, Shimul garden. After leaving the boat, we ate egg-khichuri in the morning and roamed to see the nature.
About 2 and a half hours later we reached the magical river. As the river Barekkatila is approaching, the clouds, mountains of Meghalaya were spreading there beauty. After 10 minutes of tracking, we climbed the hill of Barekkatila and saw the procession of Meghalaya clouds, feeling very lucky. It seemed to be the clouds had been waiting for us for so long!
I took a picture at Barekkatila, got up, and went to the bathing spot of the magical river.
The water of the magical river was very clear. But, as soon as I stepped on the wet sand, the water was becoming muddy. After a lot of rushing in the magical river, we went to the nearby Shimul garden by boat and ate fried chicken, rice, mash pulses fried eggplant for lunch.
As soon as we entered into the Shimul Bagan, a man came to sell tickets, 20 taka each. The issue of 20 taka was not known before, we entered Shimul Bagan paying the money. Shimul Bagan did not that much as I heard; Full of dung and no flowers now (normal, they blooms at the end of winter). However, having many similar trees together, the picture can be good!
Now it is time to return from Sunamganj. We travelled from Shimul Bagan for 1 hour and the boat dropped us at that broke road. From there everyone took a bus to Kamargaon stand in Sylhet, 100 tak per person. It was a fairly level bus (name not remembered), it took about 2 hours to reach Sylhet. Along with other buses, BRTC non-AC bus service of Tk 110 and AC service of Tk 160 is available on this road. We waited at Kadamtali bus stand to return to Dhaka. The bus arrived on time we board into it. Suddenly I was becoming gloomy. I wish I could stay a little long in the vast Haor with the nature. A simple life with no rush hours. But nothing to do. Again I would become a robotic person with the urban people.
I hope you enjoy my travel you can also visit this place to witness the beauty by yourself. I will share something new with you till then enjoy.
